We remember the story of a guy who, during the couple photo shoot in Cinque Terre, told us that on each of their trips, his girlfriend always rummaged through her bag in search of a box containing an engagement ring. She really was a very curious girl. How could this guy hide a ring box during one of their trips and genuinely surprise his partner? Understanding his predicament. We jokingly suggested that he could post the ring to the photographer beforehand 😉 Some time later, we helped another guy document his marriage proposal in the Cinque Terre and discovered a decidedly slim ring box model, less conspicuous than the classic cubic box. This slim model can be nicely hidden away in a pocket without showing any bulges, thus avoiding the risk that a partner might notice it moments before the proposal. Keeping a cube hidden in a pocket is not so easy, especially with a very inquisitive and observant partner. We have seen that some guys, in order to not keep the cube-shaped ring box in their pocket, carry a backpack where they keep the box safe, and so, for the totally “Surprise!” proposal, when the partner is unaware of a photographer’s presence, the backpack ends up in the shot. Some people have no problem with this, while others would prefer not to have backpacks with them and not have the backpack in the photo. SOME QUICK TIPS FOR A CINQUE TERRE WEDDING PROPOSAL
• Don’t have any expectations, the result will be even better! Many couples are obsessed with the golden hour, the hour of sunset. You have to consider that the light is not always the same and sometimes obsessing about how something should go can ruin the energy of the moment and we don’t want that to show in the shots. We have documented beautiful wedding proposals with cloudy skies and there’s no need to get stressed about it. Simply enjoy because you are sharing with your partner a unique experience in one of the most beautiful places in the world!
• Choose comfortable clothes. Personally, we recommend wearing pastel-coloured clothes without logos and lettering. For ladies who like to dress in floral or solid pastel-coloured dresses we can say that they are always a sure bet, just as beige or khaki or green trousers and a white linen shirt for guys are always a good choice of outfit. Remember that you have to feel comfortable, so the important thing is that you choose what makes you feel good about yourself and something that reflects your personality.
• Make sure you buy your train tickets in advance if you have to travel from another village . The train stations in the Cinque Terre are small. There are a limited amount of ticket machines and, in the high season there are many tourists. We recommend buying your train tickets once you arrive or even better, online. The danger of buying tickets at the time is that you might find a queue of people and risk missing your train if you have to change villages, or if you decide to venture out without a ticket the risk of receiving a fine could spoil your mood, if not make you late.
• During the time of the proposal everything else does not matter. It is very important to us that you feel comfortable and take your time to manage your emotions during the proposal. Don’t think about poses. Just be yourself. This is the biggest thing you can do to help us do our job.
• Make sure you have your phone charged if you have to communicate for any unforeseen events. Unforeseen events can happen and it is good to stay in touch for any eventuality.
• Plan a lunch or dinner to celebrate such an important event. There is nothing better than celebrating your engagement in the Cinque Terre by enjoying a local dish and sipping good wine with a spectacular view of the Mediterranean Sea and typical Cinque Terre landscape.
